Jerome's sister doesn't end up committing suicide, however. This was done primarily to teenagers, like Jerome's sister. There are many things depicted in the book that we never see in the second season.īill Hodges is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and ends up dying at the end of the book.īrady manages to control the minds of many people and persuades them to commit suicide. The first season ended pretty much the same way the first book ended. I loved the final two episodes of this season because it deviated a lot from what happened in the third book which meant that I didn't know what was going to happen. The third book was a bit out there, like the second season. I prefer reality based fiction which is why I preferred the the first two books in the trilogy. I didn't know how they'd pull off a lot of what they showed in the second season but they did a pretty good job of porraying how Brady inhabited the minds of others. The whole subplot with the doctor was not in the third book, however, and there are a lot of characters added in were not in the book. The 2nd season follows the third book pretty closely until the final two episodes. The second book in the trilogy, Finders Keepers, had a plot with a story that really didn't involve Brady or any of the major characters for a large chunk of the book. The first season follows the first book pretty closely. I don't blame them, but I wish they had done a complete adaptation of all three books. But I think they wanted to rush into the bigger, main events of the third book.

I think if they had used the second season to ease into that aspect more slowly, people would have been more receptive to it. I'm hoping the show gets renewed for a third season, though! I know a lot of people who loved the first season but really disliked the second season for going to far into the supernatural. But it's already happened so no going back now. Personally I think they could have found a way to visually work around that, or even come up with a new plot altogether. However, King recently released another book called The Outsider, which has some ties to the Bill Hodges trilogy.Īs for the show, they decided to skip most of the events of the second book (Finders Keepers) because the main characters don't appear halfway through. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch. So, as far as I know, these are the books that make up the series
